Throughout active operations he has shown marked courage and willingness in responding to any call made upon him. More than once he has been responsible for maintaining supply of ammunition and rations under trying and difficult circumstances. His skill as farrier serjeant had much to do with the battery maintaining its mobility up to the end of operations.
