YOUNGEST OF THE HOWITZERS. Sad Swansea Death After Five Years Service

The youngest of the 1st Welsh Howitzers, has just died at his home at 99 Fleet-street, Swansea, under pathetic circumstances, in the person of Driver RA Jones. He was only 21 years of age at the time of his death, but joined the brigade two weeks before the outbreak of war, going first to France and thence to Egypt, where he remained for three years and six months, being five years with the brigade altogether. He came home on the last day of February and succumbed to double pneumonia.

YOUNG SWANSEA SOLDIERS FATE. Driver Richard Jones , the youngest of the 1st (Swansea) Howitzer Brigade, has died of pneumonia at Swansea, after returning a fortnight ago from Egypt.

The death occurred on Wednesday of Driver Jones, one of the Swansea Howitzers, whose home was at No99 Fleet-street, Swansea. He returned from Egypt a fortnight ago, after having served three and a half years in France..... The takes place on Monday, and all his military comrades from Egypt are asked to fall in by the Drill Hall, Richardson Street at 1.30. It will be a military funeral.
