Statement to the American Consular Service, Plymouth, England. In June 1913 I came to England with my mother with the intention of returning to the United States after 6 month holiday. I remained longer than expected, however, and when the War broke out joined the British Army in a spirit of adventure. I did not think at the time the war would last over 6 months. When the United States entered the War I endeavored to get a transfer to the American Forces but failed. Since my discharge in Feb 1919 I have lived in Okehampton, Eng. I now desire to return to the USA permanently.
