- Enlisted 27 Sep 1915, Swansea - trade Miner. 5 foot 6 and a half

- Initially trained with the 3/1 Welsh Howitzers (the depot), then transferred to the 2nd Line (2/2 Glamorgan Battery) on 5/2/1916 (in the UK)

- Transferred along with the rest of the 2nd line to 4A Res Bde on 7/9/16

- Posted to the Salonika Expeditionary Force 11/11/16 and when he arrived to D Battery 1 Brigade where he served for the rest of the war

- Suffered from Malaria (first attack May 1917, last Oct 1918) - not uncommon in Salonika and received a military pension

- Discharged 18/2/19

- Awarded the British War Medal, Victory Medal and Silver War Badge (to recognise his long term illness)
