Richard MA Harries's grandson kindly provided the following:
I only know a small amount about Dick Harries. He was the son of George Harries who developed a highly successful business in Swansea exporting coal, and anthracite in particular, to many parts of the world.
He was educated in Swansea and Coutances in Normandy. He ran the business when his father retired/ died. He was a keen golfer. He was a volunteer fire fighter in WW 2, including during the Swansea blitz.
I believe that he died of a heart attack aged 59 in 1950.
