Military Service

No SR

- Williams brother, Alfred Seabrook, was the first to enlist in the Brigade in mid-January 1915.

- William enlisted a few months later, at some point between 20-26 May 1915

- He would have initially trained in Swansea, and later transferred to the 2nd Line of the Brigade who spent time in Reigate and St Neots

- On 7 Sept 1916, he was amongst a group of men who transferred from the 2nd Line to 4A Reserve Brigade of the Regular Army

- From there he would have been sent to an active unit

- In 1917, he would have received a new 6-digit service number (poss starting either 156 or 168) and he would have served under this number for the rest of the war

- We know he served overseas because he received medals, but I do not know in which unit or where.

- For technical reasons, after the end of the war, he was renumbered again in the block of numbers reserved for the Brigade, which was when he was given the number 726044 which should be on his medals.
