16/9/16 - Llais Llafur. Gunner Edgar Phillips, of Lower Cwmtwrch, attached to the Royal Field Artillery, was home on his last leave prior to leaving for active, during the weekend. His many friends gave him a hearty send-off on his departure, and a wished him a speedy and safe return.
18/8/17 - Llais Llafur. Pte. Edgar Phillips, of the Royal Field Artillery, who was home on short furlough from France, where he had served for 14 months, was presented with a cheque.
23/8/17 - Brecon & Radnor Express: Pte Edgar Phillips (Royal Field Artillery), just home on short furlough from France, was presented with a cheque here last week.
11/10/17 - The Express: Gunner Edgar Phillips, R.F.A. (Cwmtwrch) has been wounded in Flanders.

27/10/17 - Llais Llafur. Pte. Edgar Phillips, of the R.F.A., whose home is at Lower Cwmtwrch, is reported to be in hospital at St. Leonard's-on-Sea, undergoing treatment, alter having been gassed in France. He has been on active service for nearly two years.

20/12/17 - Brecon & Radnor Express: Driver Edgar Phillips (Beulah, Lower Cwmtwrch) returned to hospital at Hastings a few days ago.
9/2/18 - Llais Llafur. Mr. Edgar Phillips, whose home is at Lr. Cwmtwrch, visited his home during the week on draft leave, and has now returned to France. He is attached to the Artillery, and was wounded some time age. He was given a hearty send-off.

19/10/18 - Llais Llafur. It is with regret that we record the death in hospital of a young soldier of Lower Cwmtwrch. in the person of Gunner Edgar Phillips, of the Royal Field Artillery. News reached the locality on Monday that his death had taken place at a Sheffield hospital, whence he had been removed after having been gassed on the Cambrai front. Ho joined the colours in the early days of the war, and has been in Franca for a considerable period. Much sympathy is felt with the relatives in their bereavement. The body was brought home home on Wednesday, and the burial will take place on Saturday.
24/10/18 - Brecon & Radnor Express: The death has Occurred in hospital of Gunner Edgar Phillips (Lower Cwmtwrch). He joined the colours in the earlvy days of the War. and was in France for a considerable period.
15/2/19 - Llais Llafur. OUR FALLEN HEROES, CWMTWRCH ROLL OF HONOUR. Gunner Edgar Phillips, R.F.A. Enlisted October 14, 1914. Gassed in France and died at Sheffield, October 14. 1918.
