Jan 1916 - Incorrectly reported killed

Llais Lafur, 29 Jan 1916. The fears entertained that Bombadier Phil Britten formerly police constable at Ammanford, had been killed at the front, have been allayed, word having been received from Britten himself that he is doing all right. A Llanelly officer, it appears, had written home that Britten had been killed.

Amman Valley Chronicle, 1 Aug 1918. Bombr P J Britten who was formerly a member of the Police Force stationed at Ammanford, is on a visit to his home. Bombr Britten has been a patient at a hospital near Brighton. He has seen service in France, and looks very well after his experiences. His many friends wish him a speedy recovery and a safe return.
