Trumpet Major John Griffiths of Clyndu-street, Morriston, 71 years of age, was also one of the battery's first members, and served 35 years with the battery. When the Morriston band, under Bandmaster George Hanney, was appointed the brigade band, Mr Griffiths was made the first trumpet major, a position which he retained until the brigade was changed to the Territorials.
