Mr J Jackett, watchmaker, of Swansea, has received from the War Office news of the death of his son, Pte Owen Jackett, of the 3rd Welsh, while in action on October 31. A letter dated two days after his reported death from Pte Jackett contained the sentences, "We are going into the firing line today. We can hear the big gun quite plainly. Tell dad not to worry about me. I will be all right."
